WODONGA WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

RCE was engaged to deliver a major upgrade to the Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Plant, a critical infrastructure project that aimed to modernise and improve operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance across the facility.

The scope of works included a comprehensive overhaul of both systems and infrastructure. Key elements of the project included the construction of new switch rooms and the replacement of legacy programmable logic controllers (PLCs), enabling greater control and automation across plant operations. The SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system was also updated, improving real-time monitoring, data collection, and system responsiveness.

To enhance the plant’s solids management capabilities, we installed a second centrifuge sludge press and implemented a modernised sludge handling system. These upgrades significantly improved dewatering efficiency and processing capacity. A new lime silo system was also added to support more consistent pH control and chemical dosing.

Additional upgrades included:

  • Installation of new sewage screening equipment to improve primary treatment
  • Replacement of multiple dosing systems to ensure precise and efficient chemical delivery
  • Decommissioning and removal of outdated and redundant equipment
  • Implementation of advanced security systems to safeguard the site and operations

This multi-faceted upgrade ensures the Wodonga Wastewater Treatment Plant is better equipped to meet current and future demands, with a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and long-term performance.
