The Korong Vale Primary Disinfection Upgrade project required the installation of a new Filtered Water Balance Tank, re-lift pumping station, UV disinfection reactors and control building, chlorine contact tank and multiple process ties. 

This upgrade allowed the site to transfer from its primary disinfection method, which relied on the use of chlorine, to a UV disinfection method, which reduces Cryptosporidium by a minimum of 2.5 log.

As a result of our work, the existing plant and infrastructure now meet the latest Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, and will extend the site’s service life by another 20 years.
